We took 15 families off grid to a breathtaking location in the Yorkshire Dales. Families were invited to step away from the signal for a two-day wild camping experience at Nethergil Farm.
The trip celebrated Vango’s 60th anniversary and marked a key moment to showcase the brand at the heart of family camping. Guests were encouraged to simply jump in the car with the essentials, while their tent and all the equipment needed for a weekend in the wild were ready and waiting on arrival.
The curated experience was built around a simple message: camping is accessible, and one of the most powerful and rewarding ways for families to connect. That sentiment ran through the entire weekend, naturally woven into an adventure-filled schedule and central to both Vango and CampWild. From the moment guests arrived, a buzz of excitement spread across camp.
The children wasted no time making new friends over old-school outdoor games, while parents settled into their beautifully prepared tents and got their first taste of effortless Vango comfort. With binoculars at the ready, guests set off on a wildlife walk led by the farm’s owner, taking in mossy woodland, rivers, cobbled bridges and plenty of boggy marshland. It was a chance for everyone to connect through their surroundings, and one of the most memorable moments of the weekend.
Just as the walk drew to a close, one of the children spotted a group of owls, perfectly camouflaged in a nearby tree – a magical way to begin the event.
Later that afternoon, guests braved a refreshing river dip before retreating to the warmth of the sauna, made possible through our partnership with Porta Sauna. Fueling the trip was Thom Off The Beaten Pot, cooking in the elements and battling everything from scorching heat to persistent wind, while consistently serving up incredible meals that proved just how good wild camping food can be.
As the day drew to a close, everyone gathered around the fire to reflect, share stories, toast marshmallows and enjoy a couple of drinks from our partners: Jubel, Uncommon, Athletic Brewing and Lucky Saint.
The next morning started the right way, with fresh coffee from Lowtide Coffee, hot bacon sandwiches and plenty of chat about how well everyone had slept in the wild. After a slow morning playing in the sunshine, the real adventure began. In an exciting collaboration with Mr Men and Little Miss, the children collected their trail cards, split into teams and headed into the forest.
Their mission was to track down their favourite characters hidden among the trees. Every explorer crossed the finish line to collect a certificate and a special edition of Mr Men and Little Miss Go Camping.
The sun shone all afternoon, and families headed straight for the river to splash around, build dams and embrace the mud. As the first notes of live music drifted through the valley, everyone gravitated back to camp just in time for the ice cream parlour to open, serving hokey pokey ice cream from the local dairy.
As the evening wound down, families gathered around the crackling fire to make fresh popcorn before setting off on one final adventure: a scenic stroll from the foot of the valley, past the nature barn and lookout point, up to a secluded waterfall. It was the perfect way to wrap up an incredible wild weekend in the heart of the Dales.
More than a celebration of 60 years, the weekend was a reminder of what camping does best: bringing families closer to nature, to one another and to the simple joy of being outside.
With millions of impressions, hundreds of pieces of content and countless memories made, Into the Wild showed that adventure does not need to be complicated – sometimes, it just starts with a tent.
